Amberly, from One Word to Speech

I want to share a story about a wonderful little girl named Amberly. I met Amberly and her mom (Pam) while touring schools in TX. Her mom wanted me to know her story, because it is story of real hope. And a story of the power of interactive literacy. Amberly, when approaching the age of four, was meeting all her developmental milestones except one, speech. Her mom was told that if she was not speaking by four then she had a .2 percent chance of her speaking. But Amberly had different ideas. She was introduced to my book Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons in preschool. So loved the book and they read it at school and home all the time. The first words she spoke were from Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons. They were "Pop" and "Goodness No". Now Amberly speaks in full sentences and can express her needs and wants. Let's talk about what happen and why it is so hopeful for all children and parents.
